“The true development of Geralt this season,” Cavill said, “is him being able to recognize that he can’t do this himself.” “It’s a fairly extreme set of circumstances to come back from,” Cavill told Netflix’s Geeked channel after the premiere, “it’s a tough one to forgive, it’s going to take some real work.” But it’s something the pair will certainly have to work on in season 3 as Geralt himself notes, Ciri might be the missing element from his and Yen’s relationship. And so in season 3, she’ll bring them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where “she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers.”
Geralt doesn’t go as far as to forgive her for nearly killing herself to save Ciri from Voleth Meir, but he does acknowledge that Yen seems to be the only one who can help raise Ciri.

Netflix also previously released the animated movie Nightmare of the Wolf. Since the second season, Netflix has released a few spinoffs for the Witcher series, including last year’s The Witcher: Blood Origin, starring Everything Everywhere All at Once star Michelle Yeoh. Given the number of people who seek to control or kill her - including, but not limited to, the elves, Nilfgaard’s White Flame, and the council of mages - season 3 leaves them with a lot of ground to cover. Season 2 ended on more than a few serious cliffhangers, with familial connections finally made between Geralt (Henry Cavill), Yen (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan), and the three of them working together to get Ciri’s powers under control. I'm not saying that it's doing anything truly revolutionary, that you haven't seen before in other narrative-driven adventures, but there's a quality to its composition that's hard to ignore. Maybe comparisons don't work for a game like Under the Waves. Would more comparisons help you get your head around it? I can say that it requires more physical input than Firewatch or Everybody's Gone to The Rapture, but less than something like The Outer Wilds its world is as aquatically appealing as Subnautica, but less dangerous, and far more beautiful. There's a lot to like about Under the Waves, even in this early-development demo that does little more than carve out a frame for the adventure. There's a true sense of verticality here, which opens up the ways in which you navigate the seabed and the made-made structures that adorn it – I hope Parallel Studios makes true use of this concept, leveraging it for more than flipping switches and circumventing ladders. It's when Stan is wearing his wetsuit that Under the Waves pulls off one of its neatest tricks, as it lets you switch seamlessly from walking to swimming.
